Another Era.

I was at school with Paul. In those days middle class families cleaned and polished their “outdoor shoes” on a daily basis. In deed, we boarders, had morning shoe inspections.
I remember Paul telling me that to really look after your shoes, you should not wear the same shoes on consecutive days, in order to “rest” the leather.
I think this gem had been passed on to him from his father.
Quite why we had this conversation and why I remember it , I have no idea but maybe the fact he chose to pass it on says much about the boy and the man he became.
