Dedicated to the memory of Paul Baker

Thank you for visiting Paul’s tribute page and for your kind condolences. If you are making a donation, we are so thankful for your contribution to either of these two worthy causes. With his love of being out on the water, my Dad always supported the RNLI and as his blood cancer was quite rare, we know he would want to help fund further research into treatments.

Paul was only diagnosed with blood cancer late in the autumn of 2023. His bone marrow was not making enough healthy blood cells which resulted in low energy and immunity. His Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) was high risk to start with and despite several rounds of chemotherapy, it sadly didn't have much of an impact. He beat various infections in hospital and then finally faced one he just couldn’t fight off.

I know he would have dearly loved to get back to the railway, spend more time with family and friends and to see you all again if he could have and now we will make the most of the happy memories we all have of our time with him.

Whether he was at work, home, his boat or beloved Bluebell Railway, my Dad put his heart into everything and he will be very much missed.

Love,

Suzanne, Adam, Beverley and the wider family
